Belcher Bits Customer Gallery

Belcher Bits kits and conversions are made to be built. We encourage our customers to send in photos (electronically or otherwise) of their completed projects. Thank you.

Terry Moore of Seattle sent in this photo of a PBY-4 built using the Monogram PBY-5 kit and Belcher Bits BB-06 conversion set. No word on the wing stars, but they must have been painted on ...nobody makes decals that big!

Scot McTavish sent his RCAF Canso to show what two good resin sets can do. He used Belcher Bits BB-05 to correct the tail and his own solid nose conversion. For those who want to try a post-war PBY, contact Scott's Custom Resin Products, 731 Hunterston Rd NW, Calgary, AB, T2K 4M5 or by e-mail at smctavish@sitecleanup.com

Frank Hoback from Santa Fe sent in these photos of GUBA, a modified PBY-1 used in the search for Russian aviator Levanensky. He used the Belcher Bits set BB-06 to backdate the Monogram Catalina. Note that Frank has opened the starboard hatch. No notes on where the markings came from ... no kit, that's for sure. The low level shots in natural light certainly look realistic. The shot below shows the model and base.

Bill Burns of London, Ontario sent in the following picture of a diorama he built as a birthday gift. It depicts an RCN Avenger that his brother successfully crash landed back in the fifties. He used the Belcher Bits BB-04 TBM/AS-3 conversion set for the Accurate Miniatures TBM-3. We were able to supply artwork for the fuselage codes so Bill could match the markings of his brother's aircraft. An effective presentation model. Well done, Bill!

Randy Lutz (a fellow Stittsville resident, member of IPMS Canada executive, and a darn good modeller!) passed this photo of a CH-124 he built under contract for the Canadian War Museum ... with Belcher Bits decals, of course!

Don Alberts from Albuquerque, NM (one of my favourite places) sent in a photo of the HO3S-1G he built from the Belcher Bits BK-02 kit. Don went to town on the model, detailed the interior, folded the blades and modified the figure included with the kit. Don kindly had me out to his house when I last visited Albuquerque, and I had a chance to see his collection of finished models; all excellent, and each one displayed with a figure ... a great way to illustrate the scale of the model. Great work, Don.

Steve Dzurek of Blind Bay, BC, sent in a note with his photo. "Bought your decals about 4 months ago; they were great to work with. Keep up the good work. This CF-104 is a Hasegawa F-104, Belcher Bits decals and Bare metal foil for the finish. It took about two and a half months to finish. Thanks for making these great decals. Over and out." Thanks for sharing your work, Steve.

Gil Hodges recently published an article on Hyperscale covering his PBY-2 conversion using the Belcher Bits set BB-06. He did a beautiful model, exactly what I had in mind when I first made the conversion set. I am a big fan of Hyperscale, checking it daily; It is full of good articles, well-built models and the discussion group is informative, a tribute to its moderator and maintainer, Brett Green. If you want to see the whole PBY-2 article, follow this link. For those who want to stay here, I have 'borrowed' one photo from the article. Thanks, Gil and Brett.
